Ulah Bistro: A Bruncher’s Delight

Ulah Bistro

The best part about Ulah Bistro is that it’s reliable. You come in wanting something and you leave getting that exact something you came in for. We particularly like Ulah for its brunch, as we’ve never frequented this establishment for anything else.

Ulah is located a mere 10 steps away from the U St Metro exit off of 13th St NW. You find yourself noticing the outdoor seating and the front doors wide open allowing patrons to walk in and feel right at home. Well, the kind of home where people wait on you hand-and-foot, anyway. Ulah has a very warm atmosphere and the servers and hosts are all very friendly. The menus are easy to read and not overwhelming. You come in looking for that perfect plate of eggs Benedict and there it is, right at the top. You want a mimosa with brunch? You’ve got it. Needless to say, the food comes out right, every time.

The restaurant is well kept, as are the bathrooms. Tucked away in the back, you never have to worry about unpleasant smells ruining your challah French toast. Wooden benches line the restaurant and the black tables are adorned with cutlery rolled away into neat little crepe-like packages.

The menu is very reasonably priced, which allows for some splurging. If you feel like that added fruit plate, go for it, no one’s going to judge.

Parking is usually pretty easy to come by, earlier on a Sunday brunch that is. U St is pretty hopping, so if you come Saturday, we suggest you take the metro.

So this weekend, when you wake up with that wicked hangover Sunday morning from going out with your girls the night before singing karaoke, we suggest you take the train with your sunglasses on and head over to Ulah Bistro. It won’t disappoint.
